I stumbled across Jon Udell’s ?LibraryLookup homepage which allows you to create a bookmarklet that when clicked will search your local library for and ISBN number. After a quick look I came up with ?LibraryLookup','scrollbars=1,resizable=1,location=1,width=575,height=500'))}"> A search of the sheffield Library bookmakelet that you should be able to drag into your toolbar.
Now when I see a book that I might want to read on the net I can check if there is a copy in Sheffiled and even reserve it from the comfort of my own desk! Thank you Jon and especially all those super Information Professionals ( or what ever the PC term for a Librarian is these days) who made the effort to put this sort of thing on the web.
